A state police officer was injured along with his wife after a Thursday morning shooting, police records say.

The incident took place before 8 a.m. in a residence located at Boca del Río Avenue and Gaona Street in the Hacienda del Río area.

Upon arrival the police found an Attorney General’s office agent who was identified as Miguel Angel Cervantes Juárez, 45, who works for the Vehicle Theft Unit.

The agent had a gunshot wound in a leg while repairing a flat tire.

Also, the police found Adriana Cristina Aguilar Lizárraga, 44, who had an injury in the hip.

The couple was transported to a private hospital with moderate injuries that do not risk their lives.

The suspects allegedly fled northbound on a gray Nissan Altima towards Lázaro Cárdenas Boulevard. The police were unable to find the suspects.
