The state of Baja California will end next month with a 21 percent increase of its debt and without funds to pay Christmas bonuses to state employees.
State Secretary of the Treasury Adalberto González said the administration started out with a debt if 12.3 billion peso and will end with 15 billion peso.
The state official said the next administration could be able to incur in a six percent of budget short-term debt in order to pay down the bonuses.
Sec. González explained that the debt increase was authorized by the legislature’s Audit Office.
