A state official said the increase of SARS-COV-2 cases is due to the increase of tests.

State Secretary of Public Health Alonso Perez Rico said Baja California had over 2,000 active cases — mostly with minor symptoms.

“There is an increase of tests that are being provided,” Sec. Perez Rico said. “All patients are now being tested.”

Mexicali, with 735 cases, is fifth nationwide, while Tijuana is ninth and Ensenada is sixteenth. As of Monday Mexicali has 24,779 accumulated cases and 3,432 accumulated deaths.
