Months after making a commitment to provide proper equipment to Mexicali Firefighters the former local mayor fulfilled her promise.
On Tuesday, Governor Marina Avila held an event to give 275 permanent, part time and voluntary firefighters with uniforms and other equipment.
The cost was 31 million pesos or about $1.5 million.
Local firefighters have been demanding the equipment for months. The demand included several demonstrations to force the city of Mexicali to provide uniforms. Also, firefighters were promised a cash bonus. Gov. Avila highlighted during the ceremony held in the Colonia Hidalgo Fire Station the effort made by the authorities to purchase the uniforms in the last couple years.
