Over a million elementary students returned to the State’s 2,300 schools in Baja California Monday after close to two years of closure due to the pandemic.

Secretary of Education Gerardo Solis said the return to in-school instruction was due to a coordinated effort among parents, teachers, authorities and staff.

Also, he said students were permitted to get back to campuses due to the reduction of Covid-19 cases.

According to the state official all school staff has been vaccinated and campuses have been sanitized.

However, vaccination has not been allowed for elementary school age minors, with many getting vaccinated in the US.

Sec. Solis added that schools have been supplied with sanitizing items as well.

Parents were given the option to keep their children at home after the reopening for remote instruction. Thousands of high schools and college campuses reopened earlier in February.
