Taxi drivers who during the pandemic and the border crossing restrictions were allowed to park several downtown streets will be relocated from the area.

According to media reports Taxi cabs that had no permits to use curbs in certain downtown streets will be affected.

Municipal Transit System Director Carlos González said those spots were occupied by some Taxi drivers that were temporarily empty and unused.

However, the authorities expect more traffic next week as the border will be reopened for Mexican citizens after an 18 month hiatus.

The director said if Taxi drivers refuse to get moved traffic issues might arise.

So far the city has already seen an increased traffic in downtown as residents prepare to cross the border. Taxi drivers could get relocated to Mariachi Park which is located several blocks south of the border crossing.
