Although the state still owes teachers about 120 million pesos classes resumed Tuesday.

In a prepared statement Governor Marina Avila acknowledged members of Local 2 of the National Education Workers Union willingness to return to classes.

Teachers declined to provide education services until funds were paid to federal teachers.

Gov. Avila said the state will keep seeking funds at the federal level to pay teachers in full.

Local 2 Secretary General Juan Enrique Villanueva released a public letter that called teachers to resume classes Tuesday for the benefit of students.

Villanueva explained that ten due payments were owed to retired teachers for a total of $6 million. According to the Secretary General sites where retired teachers used to work remain in strike.
