Teenagers who got their first Covid-19 vaccine in the United States but were unable to return got their second shot Tuesday.

La Crónica newspaper reported that the minors were vaccinated with the Pfizer dose in Plaza Cachanilla shopping mall by the state Department of Public Health.

According to the newspaper, a minor identified as Maria Fernanda, 17, got her first shot in Brawley weeks ago and waited for five hours Tuesday to get the second shot.

Customs and Border Protection recently announced that the restrictions to Mexican visitors were going to be reinforced to everyone regardless of carrying an appointment to get vaccinated.

For few months now CBP agents allowed some Mexicali residents to get their shots, especially when the vaccine was not available in Mexican soil.

The teenager interviewed by the newspaper said when she was about to cross the border for her second shot a CBP officer sent her to secondary inspection where she was told it wasn’t permitted to enter the US due to the increase of cases. Maria Fernanda got her second shot a month after getting the first dose, the newspaper reported.
