The Autonomous University of Baja California said over 30 sexual harassment complaints were filed last year, of which four ended up with the dismissal of teachers.

La Voz newspaper reported that in Dec. 2020 the statewide college system launched its protocol to address gender violence by receiving and processing complaints.

University Secretary General Luis Enrique Palafox said all complaints had already been resolved with the dismissal of four professors and several others disciplined.

Female students had posted at the university’s schools for the last years signs to publicly report sexual harassment cases that involved male teachers.

Palafox said that disciplinary actions had also been taken against students for inappropriate behavior, especially verbal violence.

The college has several gender violence committees led by university officials to eradicate this issue, Palafox said.
