Starting Thursday the state Public Utilities Commission of Mexicali began a project to change water lines in downtown.

The 1.3 million pesos project seeks to improve water services in the area, the agency said.

According to the agency five 8-inch water lines need to be immediately changed.

The project will simultaneously start in Bravo Street and in the Callejón Venegas alley.

After those projects conclude the contracted company will move to replace water lines in Pedro Moreno Street and in Callejón Lerdo Alley.

The last water line to be replaced is located at the intersection of Melgar Street and Lopez Mateos Boulevard. The project is expected to take 40 days to replace close to 260 feet of water lines.
