A woman died early Wednesday after a hit and run car accident, according to media reports.

The incident took place at 1:37 a.m. in Villa Aragón Avenue and Villa Obregón Street in the Villas de la República area.

The victim was identified as Rosa María Cardozo Vargas, 56. The victim had fatal injuries in the accident and died at the scene.

In the accident a 46-year-old woman and a 15-year-old female minor also got injured.

The police said the dead woman and the injured females were trapped inside a brown Chevrolet Impala.

Firefighters and paramedics were also deployed to the scene.

The fatal victim was sitting in the passenger’s seat, according to the report.

The police also found at the scene a damaged, unoccupied Jeep Cherokee.

The preliminary report says the Chevrolet was driven southbound on Villa Obregón Street.

While turning left in the intersection the Chevrolet was presumably impacted by the Cherokee. The incident is under investigation.
