A woman was robbed of $9,000 at gunpoint Monday afternoon in downtown Mexicali.

According to the police the incident was reported to the authorities at 4:22 p.m. in the corner of Zuazua Avenue and Mexico Street.

Police officers were notified by a 58-year-old woman that after withdrawing the cash at the Bancomer Bank and exchanging the money, she drove her 2015 Honda CRV to a candy shop.

Two individuals chased her in a dark colored vehicle. Then, the passenger exited the vehicle and brandished a chromed gun to demand the cash.

The suspect took the victim’s purse and fled southbound.

Mexicali police officers searched the area to seek security cameras in order to identify the suspects.
